NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available on select stations for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after last week's talk about two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they kind of defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

But it was good to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos boast the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver prevailed in that contest.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing extra defenders but they might plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.

At the start of the season, it was noted on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

New TE Evan Engram has stepped up big while new RB JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable situations.

This has helped QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw all over, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, a unique trait, plus he's so athletic.

His strengths are his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle or over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and when you have a mobile QB the defense must cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. The key is to continue this path.

They excel at leaning into their strength, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.

Since the league started recording takeaways decades ago, this team are the first team to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.

This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
