'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Fire

The loved ones of teenagers missing after a tragic blaze at a bar in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for information about their loved ones via social media.

The inferno devastated the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Verified footage reveal the ceiling igniting as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the fire, which killed four dozen individuals and wounded another scores more. Authorities said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to identify the other six.

In the meantime, families and friends have been using the internet to plead for any news about their missing relatives who were in attendance that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Missing

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.

The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that a number of of its citizens have not been located.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around midnight on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has stated that he is deceased, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied dedication and authentic values."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Additional Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the venue.

"A companion said they ran away after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers stated, "He was known for his kindness and positive demeanor, alongside great maturity. Often ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has posted an appeal online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
