The British player reached the third round in three of the four major tournaments this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events this season due to a medical condition that has affected her for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

She had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the deciding set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
