A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage. A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory" Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success. “It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.” Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme. “The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.” Production History and Contributing Musicians The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to time constraints. The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid. Final Touches and Availability Lullaby was brought to life by a group of talented individuals. The single showcases a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses. The team running the campaign have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity. “There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.” The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed. “Against that backdrop, a handful of millions won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.” The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
